The Story
Gas Gas originally emerged in 1985 as the unexpected departure of Bultaco motorcycles from the market place left two Spanish Dealers, Narcis Casas and Josep Piebernat owning a shop, but with no bikes to sell. Out of a combination of passion for motorcycles and racing, and the necessity to offer quality products for sell in their dealership, they embarked on an exciting journey to manufacture premium offroad competition motorcycles. And so… Gas Gas Motorcycles was born
The Name
The name Gas Gas literally means « to gas it » (to accelerate, give it the gas, turn the throttle – to go faster.) The original Gas Gas founders have, at times, expressed reservation about the chosen name as it has often caused confusion outside of Spain. Others have joked that Gas Gas are so good that they had to name them twice. The slogan « Gas Gas = Fast Fast » has been used in past marketing initiatives to help people better understand the unique meaning of the name.
The Brand
The Gas Gas brand is known worldwide as a premier high end competition motorcycle thanks to the factory’s continual commitment to building proven race winning machines. The ongoing progressive research and development process performed by factory engineers have been proven to produce the perfect blend of quality and reliability with leading edge performance and handling. Gas Gas Offroad competiton motorcycles are still hand built at the Gas Gas factory near Girona Spain.
Racing Heritage
At its core, Gas Gas Offroad motorcycles are purpose built competition machines. This has been demonstrated over the years with multiple Championship titles in the prestigious World Enduro Series. Most recently in November of 2010 Gas Gas has hired Ivan Cervantes, five time world indoor enduro champion, who signed to ride in the Spanish and World Enduro Championships during the next three seasons and also assist in development of new products related to his specialty, offroad racing.
